Description

Great AI starts with great data. We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer who can build the foundations that make it possible. As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll design and deliver scalable, production-grade data solutions across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric, creating the trusted data foundations that power analytics and AI. This is more than a hands-on engineering role. You’ll take end-to-end ownership of technical workstreams, influence solution design, set engineering standards and mentor other engineers, while working with stakeholders to turn complex data challenges into reliable, scalable solutions. What you’ll be doing: - Design and build batch and streaming data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Fabric Data Factory, notebooks and related technologies. - Create curated lakehouse, data warehouse and semantic data layers that enable analytics and AI use cases. - Engineer data platforms with quality, metadata, lineage, monitoring and alerting built in from the start. - Optimise pipelines and storage for performance, security, reliability and cost. - Apply strong software engineering practices including source control, automated testing and CI/CD using Azure DevOps or GitHub. - Own technical workstreams from solution design through to production, proactively managing dependencies, risks and stakeholders. - Help raise the engineering bar by reviewing designs, shaping technical standards and mentoring other engineers. What we’re looking for: You’ll bring: - Significant hands-on data engineering experience, with strong SQL and Python or PySpark skills. - Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure data technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Databricks. - Strong knowledge of dimensional modelling, lakehouse patterns, medallion architecture and data integration. - Experience designing production solutions with identity, access control, data protection and operational support in mind. - The ability to take ownership of complex technical workstreams and make sound engineering decisions. - Strong communication skills, with the confidence to explain technical designs and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - A collaborative approach to technical leadership, including mentoring engineers and improving engineering standards across a team. Even better if you have experience with: - Azure Event Hubs - Apache Kafka - Microsoft Purview - Power BI semantic models - dbt - Relevant Microsoft Azure or Fabric certifications - Why this role? The quality of an AI or analytics solution is only as strong as the data behind it. This is an opportunity to own that foundation: building modern cloud data platforms that are scalable, secure and ready for both analytics and AI, while having a real influence on how engineering is done. You’ll stay close to the technology while stepping into a role with greater technical ownership, where you can shape designs, set standards and help other engineers grow. If you enjoy solving complex data challenges, want to build with Microsoft Fabric and Azure, and are ready to take ownership beyond your own code, we’d love to hear from you. #SeniorDataEngineer #DataEngineering #MicrosoftFabric #Azure #AzureDataFactory #Databricks #PySpark #DataJobs #CloudData #AI
