We invite a Senior Java Software Engineer with strong Oracle expertise to join a large-scale platform modernization initiative. You’ll work on a project that involves consolidating multiple platforms around Oracle, designing the database schema for a new application, and supporting a future MySQL-to-Oracle migration. In this role, you'll combine hands-on Java development with advanced database engineering and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable solutions. 🟩 What's in it for you: - Contribute to a large-scale platform modernization initiative that includes a future MySQL-to-Oracle migration - Solve complex technical problems across application and database layers, combining hands-on Java backend development with advanced Oracle database engineering - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the performance and reliability of a business-critical platform serving 100k users ✅ Is that you? - 5+ years of experience building, debugging, and optimizing scalable Java backend applications - Strong proficiency in Java 8–17, object-oriented design, design patterns, multithreading, and concurrency - Hands-on Oracle development experience in production, with strong knowledge of database internals (indexing, query optimization, partitioning, replication, and transaction behavior) - Advanced SQL skills, including performance troubleshooting - Experience with production database operations (backup/restore, high availability, disaster recovery, failover), including executing changes with minimal downtime - Experience writing unit tests with JUnit and Mockito - Experience with cloud platforms (preferably GCP) and Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools - Hands-on Linux/Unix experience and scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages - Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical tasks, and proactively identify and resolve blockers - Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional Scrum teams and leading technical discussions - Upper-Intermediate+ English level Desirable: - Hands-on Oracle DBA experience in production - Experience with major Oracle version upgrades or large-scale database migrations - Oracle certification - Experience with Groovy and Gradle - Experience with CI/CD pipelines 🧩Key responsibilities and your contribution In this role, you'll combine Java backend development with Oracle database engineering, troubleshooting production issues, improving performance, and supporting migration activities. - Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java backend applications - Design the Oracle database storage schema for a new application - Support the planning and execution of a future MySQL-to-Oracle migration - Develop and optimize SQL queries to improve database performance - Troubleshoot complex application and database issues in production environments - Support production database operations and implement changes with minimal downtime - Write and maintain unit tests using JUnit and Mockito - Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical design and implementation decisions - Create and maintain technical documentation for relevant project activities Our next steps: ✅ Submit a CV in English — ✅ Intro call with a Recruiter — ✅ Internal interview — ✅ Offer Interested?
