Description
About the company
You’ll join a fast-scaling pharmaceutical business operating in an exciting, highly regulated environment. A key part of the organisation is parallel import / trading management: moving and repackaging medicines, ensuring approvals, and optimising availability across markets when shortages (or surpluses) occur. That means data, integrations and reliability are business-critical.
You will be part of the Digital – Integrations & Power Platform function (group-level support), working closely with multiple application teams and stakeholders across the business. You report to Sameh Ashour (Director, Integration & Power Platform).
What will you do?
In this role you help the team build and run the integration backbone that connects core platforms and applications across the group. You’ll design, develop and optimise backend services, APIs, and cloud integrations securely, at scale, and aligned with the platform architecture.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain backend applications, APIs and integration services in .NET/C#.
- Build and support RESTful APIs (and where needed SOAP) for reliable system-to-system communication.
- Design and implement secure, scalable, maintainable solutions aligned with integration standards.
- Create reusable integration components to increase consistency across teams and countries.
- Work with SQL and Cosmos DB, with strong attention to data integrity and performance.
- Contribute to monitoring, troubleshooting and continuous improvement in a business-critical environment.
- Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews and architecture decisions—the team has real ownership as there isn’t a “hands-on architect” for every decision.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Share knowledge actively and support onboarding/mentoring in a collaborative, international setup.
Tech stack
- Backend: .NET, C#, SQL, Cosmos DB
- Integration: REST APIs, SOAP, Service Bus, API Management
- Cloud: Microsoft Azure (App Services, Function Apps, Logic Apps)
- Security: OAuth2, JWT
- DevOps: Azure DevOps CI/CD, ARM Templates / Bicep
- Way of working: Agile
What you get
- A role in a rapidly growing company where integrations directly impact availability of medicines across markets.
- High ownership and responsibility: you influence technical choices and integration standards.
- A truly international and diverse team (7–8 nationalities) across the Netherlands, Denmark (Copenhagen) and Hungary (Budapest).
- Modern setup and technology focus within a traditional, regulated sector (pharma).
- Hybrid working: typically 3 days per week in the Alkmaar office (50/50 policy overall).
- 30 days of holiday.
- Small bonus: up to €3,000 at target.
- Allowances:Work-from-home allowance: €3 per day
- Commuting allowance: €0.23 per km
What you bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar.
- 4–5+ years of experience in backend development and integrations (focus on .NET/C#, SQL, Azure).
- Strong Azure integration experience (API Management, Service Bus, Function Apps, Logic Apps, App Services).
- Ability to think architecturally and make pragmatic, high-quality decisions (you don’t need to be “the architect”, but you must reason like one).
- Experience with CI/CD and deployments (preferably Azure DevOps, ARM/Bicep).
- Familiarity with integration patterns, event-driven concepts and distributed systems.
- Comfortable working with data-heavy processes and business-critical reliability.
- Strong collaboration skills in a multi-stakeholder environment; you can handle a “critical thinking” culture.
- English fluency is required; Dutch is not required.
Nice to have: exposure to Docker/Kubernetes and broader cloud-native practices.
