About The Role
At Sievo, data is everything. Each year we process more than 2% of global GDP, and turning data at that scale into dependable products takes a serious engineering foundation. As Engineering Manager of our Connectors & Data Factory (CDF) team, you'll lead the 6-person team that builds and runs the platform we use to bring in our customers' data and transform it into one common data model. Your team is a part of Central Technology organization and you'll report to an Engineering Director.
Connecting to our customers' source systems is a complex, constantly changing domain: think SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics and hundreds of others. Your team builds the tools and processes that get customer data in on time and securely, and that enable our Data Engineers, your platform's main internal users, to harmonize it into a single schema. Every other product team builds on top of that foundation, so your team's work is felt across Sievo.
What You'll Do
- Own your team's delivery. You'll agree on priorities with your product manager, plan with your team, and spot risks and dependencies early. You'll balance new capabilities, reliability, and technical debt at a sustainable pace.
- Build a team where people do great work and grow. Through regular 1:1s, honest feedback, and coaching, you'll help engineers develop their skills and careers, handle performance issues with care, and hire great people to join them.
- Look after your team's technical health and ways of working. You'll help keep systems maintainable, guide sound technical decisions, and align with wider engineering goals. You'll also help evolve tools and practices, including AI-assisted development, and set clear expectations for quality, testing, and security.
- Be a trusted partner to the people who rely on your platform. You’ll build strong relationships with Data Engineers and product teams, and work with your product manager to turn their needs into plans the team can deliver. You’ll bring technical judgment to priorities and trade-offs, and when plans change, you’ll raise the impact early and help agree on a way forward.
- Contribute beyond your team. You’ll work with other engineering leaders to improve shared practices, resolve common challenges, and shape engineering-wide decisions.
This is a people-first leadership role, but you'll actively participate in the team’s architectural discussions. At the same time, you’re not on the critical path for the team’s deliverables.
What We're Looking For
- Experience leading engineering teams. You've hired, coached, and supported people through difficult performance situations, and seen how that helped your team deliver reliably.
- An engineering background with experience in data engineering. You know the challenges of extracting, transforming, and operating data from many different source systems. You can engage in architecture discussions, challenge assumptions, and weigh delivery needs against reliability and maintainability.
- Good judgment in ambiguous situations. You help the team move forward when the path is unclear, priorities compete, or information is incomplete. You consider different perspectives, make thoughtful trade-offs, and explain the reasoning behind decisions. You adapt as new information emerges, without waiting for certainty to act.
- AI is part of how you work. You use AI to improve your own work and explore what it makes possible for your team. You stay hands-on enough to understand its capabilities and limitations, guide adoption, and make informed decisions without needing to own delivery-critical implementation.
- Practical experience improving development workflows. You’ve helped teams adopt new tools and practices, including AI-assisted development. You can challenge the status quo, and continuously improve team’s ways of working.
- Clear, thoughtful communication in English. You listen carefully and explain technical decisions in a way people outside engineering can follow, and help engineering, product, and business teams find common ground on priorities.
Bonus points if you
- Have worked with enterprise ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics, or with enterprise data integration architectures.
- Have experience with our technology stack: Azure, Databricks, Python, SQL.
- Have experience with large-scale cloud data infrastructure, data lakes, or distributed data processing.
- Have familiarity with procurement, spend analytics, supply chain, or enterprise finance processes.
- Have worked directly with customers' finance, information security, or IT teams, or with external technology partners and software vendors.
What It's Like Working At Sievo
- You'll lead the team behind the leading procurement analytics software, helping a growing number of Fortune 500 and other leading global companies understand and optimize their spend and supply chain.
- A chance to shape how AI is used in one of the most demanding parts of our platform: connecting to and harmonizing data from hundreds of different source systems.
- You'll guide the growth and career direction of a highly motivated and talented team of engineers.
- One of the coolest offices in the heart of Helsinki, or if you prefer, a flexible hybrid working model. We also provide all essential tools to work remotely.
- Freedom and responsibility. We trust people to own their work and make the most of that freedom.
- International team members coming from over 40 nationalities.
- Awesome perks including equity program, extensive healthcare, phone plan, home internet connection, referral bonus, and many more!
Our salary range for an Engineering Manager is between 6600-7600 EUR, and we are open to discussing higher compensation for particularly senior profiles.
We expect you to join us at the Helsinki office at least once a week.
What's next?
We'd be glad to hear from you! Send us your CV and, if you like, a few words about your strengths and what excites you about leading the CDF team. We review applications as they come in and will fill the position once we find the right person, so we encourage you to apply early.
Throughout the interviewing process, you’ll meet a Talent Acquisition Partner, your future manager, fellow Engineering Managers and SVP of Engineering. The process also includes a technical conversation with engineers from the team focused on system thinking, not coding. We’ll share what to expect before each step.
