Description
Strativ are working with an innovative defence technology company in London that are building advanced autonomous systems.
We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer who can sit between the autonomy software and the platforms it runs on. Someone who can own the big picture, from customer need through to architecture, interfaces and verification, and who can also open the code and fix things when needed.
You’ll be responsible for making sure complex autonomous systems come together and perform in the real world.
Responsibilities Include:
- Turning mission needs and customer requirements into clear system, subsystem, software and autonomy requirements
- Building and maintaining system architectures, functional decompositions and interface definitions, including ICDs, with full requirements traceability
- Defining how the autonomy software connects to vehicle systems, mission systems, sensors, comms and payloads
- Working alongside autonomy, software, GNC, avionics, hardware and test engineers to make integration succeed
- Writing C++ and Python where it’s needed, whether that’s prototypes, analysis tools, test infrastructure or engineering utilities
- Using logs, telemetry and simulation data to diagnose failures and back up technical decisions
- Leading and supporting integration across simulation, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, ground test and flight test
Required Skills:
- A degree (BS or MS) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, Robotics or a related discipline
- 5+ years developing, integrating or delivering complex, software-intensive systems, ideally in aerospace, defence, robotics or autonomy
- Hands-on experience developing and debugging in C++ and Python
- Experience with autonomous or robotic systems, such as perception, planning, estimation, guidance, navigation, controls or mission autonomy
- A solid grounding in systems engineering principles, applied to complex defence systems
- Experience with requirements decomposition, allocation, traceability and verification
- Experience producing system and functional architectures, interface definitions and ICDs
