Senior Software Engineer – Financial Technology We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a growing financial technology organisation delivering modern digital payments and banking solutions. This is an opportunity to play a key role in designing, developing and enhancing scalable, high-performance applications supporting critical financial transactions and payment processing capabilities. You will be responsible for building secure, reliable and maintainable software solutions using modern .NET and cloud technologies. Working closely with software engineers, solution architects, DevOps teams and product stakeholders, you will help deliver technology solutions across a complex, high-volume financial services environment. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop and maintain scalable applications using C# and .NET technologies. - Build secure and high-performance APIs and microservices supporting financial applications and payment processing. - Develop cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure services. - Design and implement integrations between payment platforms, banking systems and third-party services. - Contribute to software architecture decisions, technical design and engineering best practices. - Develop and optimise database queries, data models and application performance. - Implement automated testing, continuous integration and deployment processes. - Collaborate with DevOps teams to improve application deployment, monitoring and reliability. - Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers. - Ensure applications meet security, performance, scalability and operational resilience requirements. - Support the modernisation of legacy applications and migration towards cloud-native architectures. Experience & Skills Required - 5–8+ years' commercial software engineering experience, with strong expertise in C# and .NET. - Proven experience designing and developing enterprise applications using .NET Core or modern .NET. - Strong experience building REST APIs, microservices and distributed applications. - Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application development. - Strong SQL Server experience, including database design and query optimisation. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevOps practices. - Knowledge of software design patterns, SOLID principles and clean architecture. - Experience developing secure, scalable and highly available systems. - Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies. - Excellent problem-solving, collaboration and technical communication skills. Desirable Experience - Previous experience within FinTech, banking, payments or financial services. - Knowledge of payment processing systems, transaction platforms or financial APIs. - Experience with Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, Kafka or event-driven architectures. - Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes and containerised applications. - Knowledge of payment security, PCI DSS or financial services regulatory requirements. - Experience developing high-volume, low-latency transaction processing applications.
