Technical Engineering Lead - Insurance Technology 📍 Location: Warsaw, Poland | Hybrid (1 day per week onsite) 💰 Compensation: 23,000 - 30,000 PLN gross/month + approximately 18% annual bonus 📄 Employment: Permanent contract About the Opportunity An established organisation within the insurance industry is looking for a technically strong Engineering Manager to oversee a software development function. This is a leadership position combining people management, technical direction and business engagement, with responsibility for ensuring technology solutions support long-term business objectives. What You'll Be Doing - Oversee the day-to-day activities and development of a software engineering team. - Set technical direction and contribute to architectural decisions across business-critical applications. - Work alongside product and business teams to prioritise initiatives and define delivery plans. - Ensure systems meet appropriate standards for performance, scalability, reliability and security. - Manage team capacity, technology expenditure and relationships with external development partners. - Encourage engineering excellence through improved processes, tools and development practices. What We're Looking For - At least 4 years' experience leading software engineering or development teams. - Previous hands-on experience in software engineering. - Strong knowledge of software architecture and modern development methodologies. - Ability to balance technical priorities with commercial and business requirements. - Experience overseeing budgets, resource planning and third-party technology providers. - Understanding of application security and infrastructure fundamentals. - Excellent communication skills and fluency in English. Technical Environment Experience with some of the following would be beneficial: Java, React, Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes.
