VP Data Warehouse Python Developer – Permanent – Dublin (Hybrid) **3 days per week onsite in Dublin 2** The Role We're looking for a hands-on VP-level Data Warehouse Python Developer to join a growing data engineering team within a global financial services organisation in Dublin. This is a senior individual contributor role at the heart of a major platform transformation, the Enterprise Data Warehouse is migrating from an on-prem SQL Server architecture to a modern, cloud-native Lakehouse on Azure. You'll split your time between enhancing and supporting the existing platform and actively building its replacement, using Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server and Python. The platform underpins critical regulatory, finance, risk and operational reporting, so the work carries real weight and visibility. What You'll Do - Design, develop and support enterprise data solutions using Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric - Build, enhance and optimise cloud-based ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration processes - Develop and maintain SQL Server databases, stored procedures, views and performance-tuned solutions - Write Python-based solutions for data engineering, automation, monitoring, orchestration and data quality - Drive the modernisation of the Enterprise Data Warehouse to a cloud-native Lakehouse architecture - Implement and support Medallion (Bronze, Silver, Gold) data models and best practices - Design and maintain AutoSys job schedules, JIL scripting and workflow orchestration - Participate in production support and on-call rotation for business-critical systems - Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve production incidents and performance issues - Continuously improve automation, monitoring and platform performance - Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, architects and infrastructure teams - Ensure adherence to data governance, security, audit and operational standards - Contribute to architectural decisions and strategic cloud transformation initiatives What You'll Bring - 10+ years' experience in Data Warehouse and SQL Server development - Proven track record delivering enterprise-scale Data Warehouse and data engineering solutions - Extensive hands-on experience as a Data Warehouse Developer and Python Developer - Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks - Strong experience designing and implementing solutions using Microsoft Fabric - Advanced SQL Server and T-SQL development skills - Strong Python programming and automation skills - Experience designing and implementing Lakehouse architectures and Medallion data models - Experience with AutoSys workload automation, JIL scripting and dependency management - Strong ETL/ELT design and development experience - Strong data modelling and database design skills - Experience troubleshooting and tuning complex SQL and data processing workloads - Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps and automation best practices - Experience supporting large-scale production environments Nice to Have - Experience within Financial Services, Banking or Capital Markets - Power BI and enterprise analytics platform experience - Azure Data Factory experience - Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Databricks or related cloud certifications - Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science or a related discipline
