We are currently managing a search for a growing, international B2B software company that builds high-impact digital products for global audiences.
About the Opportunity: Our client creates widely adopted tech solutions integrated into major enterprises and platforms worldwide. They foster a collaborative, product-led culture centered on innovation, ownership, and continuous professional growth.
Your Impact: As Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will shape the technology strategy, lead and develop the Engineering Department, and evolve reliable, secure and scalable products in close partnership with Product and business leaders.
Main Responsibilities:
Technology strategy and business alignment
- Define and execute the technology roadmap with the CEO, Product and business leaders, translating customer needs and priorities into actionable delivery plans while maximizing the return on engineering investment.
- Build a strong partnership with Product leadership, jointly prioritizing initiatives and coordinating product and organizational changes.
- Contribute to business decisions and foster alignment with the leadership team and, when relevant, the board, by sharing strategic context, key developments, opportunities and challenges within Engineering.
Engineering leadership and team development
- Design the Engineering Department and lead recruitment, coaching, performance management and career development processes with People to build a capable and accountable team.
- Develop Engineering leaders and managers so they actively support their teams, provide feedback, address performance and conflict, and take ownership of people's growth.
- Establish clear ownership and ways of working with technical leaders to improve autonomy, collaboration and predictable delivery.
- Resolve persistent blockers and make difficult organizational or technical decisions, explaining their rationale and following through.
Architecture, quality standards and legacy management
- Guide product architecture, cloud infrastructure and integrations to support scalability, accessibility and service continuity.
- Set shared quality standards and review and acceptance criteria to strengthen technical trust, improve consistency and reduce rework.
- Define a policy for legacy systems and technical debt, using business value, risk, cost and evidence to guide maintenance, refactoring and replacement.
Incremental delivery and continuous improvement
- Improve development and deployment flow with small changes, early validation, automated testing, CI/CD and observability; track delivery, reliability and rework.
- Encourage focused experiments, including AI in products and engineering; adopt improvements based on evidence, with quality, cost, privacy and human oversight controls.
Data and applied AI
- Develop data capabilities with Product and business teams to support decisions and assess user experience and learning outcomes.
- Evaluate and introduce AI in the product and department workflow where it creates measurable value, with controls for quality, cost, privacy and human oversight.
Technology investment, security and risk management
- Manage technology budgets and suppliers, evaluate build-or-buy decisions and monitor costs against business value.
- Manage risks and compliance with legal, privacy and security specialists, balancing business needs with appropriate safeguards and recovery plans.
Requirements
Qualifications Needed and Previous Experience
- Around 10 years of relevant technology experience, including at least 3 years leading multiple engineering teams, developing leads and managers and making technical decisions.
- Experience as a CTO, VP of Engineering, Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager or in a role with equivalent scope; demonstrated impact matters more than job title.
- A track record of improving live products and leading changes in established teams, strengthening collaboration and delivery with limited resources.
- Experience working closely with Product leaders and managing people, budgets, suppliers and competing priorities.
- Fluent in Spanish and English, with the ability to discuss technical and business decisions with international stakeholders.
