Description
Role: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Camberley, Surrey (Hybrid – 2 days/week on-site)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £55-£60K
A market-leading provider of mission-critical enterprise software and hosted cloud solutions is looking for an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join their UK IT Operations team.
In this role, you will play a hands-on part in maintaining, optimising, and securing enterprise AWS environments powering high-availability hosted services. If you already have strong foundations in core AWS services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and perimeter security, and want to step into a collaborative, technically focused team, this is an ideal next move.
What You’ll Do
- Cloud Operations: Support day-to-day operations, availability, and performance across AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, core networking, and security constructs).
- Infrastructure as Code: Write, maintain, and evolve version-controlled, repeatable IaC templates using CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Cloud Security & Perimeter Defence: Configure and manage AWS WAF, implement SSO, oversee TLS/certificate lifecycles, and assist with vulnerability scanning and remediation.
- Systems Administration & Networking: Handle OS-level patching, troubleshooting, and cloud networking (DNS, routing, load balancing, firewalls).
- Reliability & Incident Management: Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis (RCA) to protect uptime and prevent recurrence.
- Monitoring & Tooling: Improve alerting, telemetry, and system visibility to preempt operational bottlenecks.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven AWS Experience: Demonstrated hands-on experience managing production workloads in AWS (EC2, VPC, WAF, CloudFormation).
- Infrastructure as Code: Practical working knowledge of Terraform alongside CloudFormation.
- Security & Identity: Solid grasp of core security principles—SSO, TLS/SSL certificates, identity management, and hardening best practices.
- Cloud Networking: Strong foundational understanding of routing, firewalls, DNS, and load balancing.
- Problem-Solving & Communication: Analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose production incidents and articulate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Nice to Have: AWS certifications (e.g., Cloud Practitioner, SysOps Administrator / CloudOps) are advantageous but not essential.
Why Apply?
- Join a stable, high-growth technology organisation offering genuine avenues for technical advancement and mentorship.
- Work in a modern, collaborative engineering culture that emphasises best practice, automation, and continuous learning.
- Enjoy a balanced hybrid working model (2 days per week in the Camberley office, 3 days remote).
