Kafka SRE

Responsibilities - Administer manage and support enterprise Kafka platforms running on Kubernetes. - Provide deep technical expertise across the Kafka ecosystem including Kafka Brokers ZooKeeper KRaft Kafka Connect and Schema Registry. - Deploy configure upgrade scale and troubleshoot Kafka clusters in containerized environments. - Perform endtoend Kafka platform administration including Topic creation RBAC management and platform governance. - Configure deploy and maintain Kafka Connect integrations and connectors. - Support integrations with MQ Splunk MongoDB GCP PubSub and other enterprise systems. - Manage Kafka Connect Workers Tasks Converters and Single Message Transforms SMTs. - Implement monitoring ing observability and resilience controls for Kafka platforms. - Automate operational administrative and maintenance tasks using scripting and automation tools. - Perform performance tuning benchmarking capacity planning and scalability analysis. - Lead root cause analysis for production incidents and implement preventive improvements. - Drive platform reliability stability operational excellence and continuous improvement. - Collaborate with globally distributed engineering and operations teams. - Participate in production support and maintenance activities across multiple regions. To be successful in this role you should have. - Strong handson experience administering Apache Kafka or Confluent Kafka platforms. - Proven Kafka Platform Administration experience application development using Kafka alone is not sufficient. - Strong understanding of Kafka Architecture and distributed messaging concepts. - Experience managing: - Kafka Brokers - ZooKeeper - KRaft - Kafka Connect - Schema Registry - Handson Kubernetes experience including: - Cluster Operations - Scaling - Upgrades - Configuration Management - Troubleshooting - Experience deploying and managing Kafka in containerized environments. - Experience configuring and supporting Kafka Connect connectors such as: - MQ - Splunk - MongoDB - GCP PubSub - Strong understanding of Kafka Connect workers tasks converters and SMT transformations. - Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions using: - Prometheus - Grafana - Splunk - Experience with DevOps and CICD practices. - Experience using: - GitHub - Jenkins - Jira - Confluence - Strong scripting automation troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. - Experience working in Infrastructure as Code and Automation First environments. - Experience performing root cause analysis and incident management. - Strong communication skills and ability to work with both engineers and business stakeholders. - Experience working with globally distributed teams.
