Technical Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer COOloop | UK-based | Equity-only remuneration initially Bringing CO₂-derived ethanol to market Everyday products, from paints to packaging, rely on chemicals made from oil and gas. COOloop is developing a way to make ethanol from captured CO₂ and renewable hydrogen in one step. The catalyst has delivered promising laboratory results. The next challenge is to turn that science into a reliable, competitive process and bring it to market. COOloop is seeking an entrepreneurial technical co-founder to lead that journey. The opportunity Working alongside CEO Ike Omambala and scientific founder Raj Lakshman, the CTO will shape company strategy, build the UK technical organisation and lead development through validation, scale-up and commercial deployment. Ike brings extensive chemicals industry and commercial leadership experience. Raj developed the catalyst technology. The incoming CTO will bring the process development expertise and leadership needed to turn the technology into an industrial offering. Progress to date • Up to 97% ethanol selectivity demonstrated in batch testing. • UK patent application filed. • Six industry letters of interest. • Interest from an Indian biorefinery in hosting a demonstration. • Independent testing forming the basis for the next development phase. What the CTO will lead • Use independent pilot testing results to set development priorities and build the technical roadmap to market. • Develop a safe, reliable process with competitive capital and operating costs. • Establish technical partnerships and secure a home for UK R&D activities. • Build and lead the technical team, working closely with the scientific founder on catalyst development. • Identify grant opportunities and shape development programmes and applications. • Play an essential role alongside the CEO in securing the seed round, including investor discussions and technical due diligence. Who will thrive in this role An entrepreneurial technical leader with experience taking chemical or process technology beyond the laboratory. Relevant strengths include • Chemical engineering, catalysis, reaction engineering or related process technology. • Process development, scale-up, safety and economics. • Leadership of multidisciplinary teams and technical partnerships. • Commercial judgement and confidence communicating with investors and customers. • Resourcefulness, intellectual honesty and ownership of difficult decisions. The proposition A founding leadership role with meaningful influence over the technology, team and direction of the company. Remuneration is initially equity-only, with terms to be agreed. Any future salary depends on funding and separate agreement. The role is UK-based. Initial time commitment and working arrangements will be discussed with candidates. CO₂ isn’t waste.
