We are a team of 30 professionals (AI Engineers, Data Scientists, Backend Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and Product Managers) working across the full breadth of the company, building products and systems that directly inform and shape decision-making. We are looking for a Mid-Level Backend Developer with solid technical foundations and hands-on experience building backend applications. You will develop and maintain reliable services that power real-world AI-driven products across Clinical, R&D, manufacturing, and other domains, working closely with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and DevOps Engineers. You will take ownership of well-defined backend features, from implementation and testing through deployment and maintenance, with support from senior engineers on architecture and complex technical decisions. We are seeking someone curious about engineering challenges, committed to writing maintainable code, and comfortable delivering independently within an agreed scope. You will contribute to technical discussions, ask for support when needed, and develop your skills through collaboration and feedback. You will work alongside Data Scientists, AI Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and Product Managers who are equally committed to delivering high-quality work. We hold regular demo days where teams present their work, as well as whiteboard sessions where we tackle problems together. The cross-disciplinary dynamic is genuinely strong. The office is located in central Madrid (Chamberí, near Eloy Gonzalo), well connected and situated in a vibrant part of the city. The challenge! - Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs (FastAPI, Flask, or similar). - Contribute to backend design and implement solutions using established architectural patterns, with guidance from senior engineers. - Build services with attention to performance and concurrency, seeking support for more complex scalability challenges. - Collaborate with frontend teams to define clear, consistent, and versioned API contracts. - Integrate backend services with SQL and/or NoSQL databases. - Write unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and apply team coding standards. - Participate in CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes. - Support the deployment and maintenance of backend services in AWS and/or Azure, working with DevOps and senior engineers. - Add and maintain application logs, metrics, and alerts using existing monitoring tools. - Investigate and resolve bugs and routine performance issues, and escalate complex reliability or security concerns. - Follow technical standards and contribute reusable components and practical improvements to the codebase. - Share knowledge with teammates and learn through pairing, code reviews, and feedback. - Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and DevOps teams. - Participate in technical design discussions and propose improvements, with senior engineers guiding architectural decisions. - Maintain the reliability and quality of the features you deliver, including documentation and follow-up fixes. What do you need? - Fluency in Spanish and English. - Practical experience developing and maintaining Python backend applications in production - Experience with version control (e.g. Git) and the tooling around (e.g. GitHub, GitLab) - Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks. - Experience implementing REST APIs and an understanding of common backend design patterns; ability to contribute to design discussions. - Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases. - Experience with Docker and containerized environments. - Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure and an understanding of application deployment workflows. - Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps). - Knowledge of authentication systems (OAuth2, JWT). - Understanding of maintainable code, SOLID principles, and separation of concerns, with the ability to apply them in day-to-day development. - Ability to deliver well-defined tasks independently, communicate progress and blockers, and incorporate feedback from teammates.
