Platform Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer for a client in the financial industry. In this role, you will help design, build, and improve a modern cloud platform based on Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes (AKS). You will focus on platform reliability, scalability, automation, and security, applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to ensure a stable and resilient environment. Working closely with engineering teams, you will drive technical decisions, establish architectural standards, and continuously improve platform performance and reliability. Your Job - Designing and maintaining end-to-end cloud platform architectures using Azure and Kubernetes (AKS) - Applying SRE principles, including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, observability, and incident management - Developing automation and tooling to improve platform operations and reliability - Implementing GitOps practices using Flux CD - Designing disaster recovery strategies and supporting multi-cluster and multi-region Kubernetes environments - Embedding security, compliance, and risk requirements into platform architecture and engineering practices - Leading or supporting major incidents, game days, and resilience testing - Defining and maintaining reference architectures and technical standards - Reviewing code and driving architectural and technical decisions across engineering teams - Developing complex platform tooling, preferably using Go - Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and implementing reliable, scalable solutions - Coaching and supporting other engineers while influencing technical direction across teams Your Profile - Extensive experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or a similar technical role - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes, particularly AKS - Proven experience applying SRE principles, including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and reliability engineering - Experience with GitOps and Flux CD - Knowledge of Kubernetes security, container security, and security-by-design principles - Experience designing resilient platforms, including disaster recovery and multi-region environments - Strong software engineering skills, including code reviews, clean code, error handling, logging, and performance optimisation - Experience developing automation and platform tooling; proficiency in Go is a plus - Ability to define technical standards and reference architectures and influence decisions across teams - Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement - Experience mentoring or coaching engineers - Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple technical teams - Experience working in complex enterprise environments is a plus We Offer - Hybrid working environment - Salary up to 85K per year on 36H/Week - 22,5 vacation days Interested?
