AI/ML Engineer

Job Title: Senior AI/ML Engineer Location: Cambridgeshire Salary: Up to £140,000 + discretionary bonus A boutique technical consultancy is putting together an elite team of AI engineers, and it is being selective about who joins. The bar is high on purpose. The aim is a small group of exceptional people working on problems most engineers never get near. The consultancy builds AI and software for clients in highly regulated, high stakes sectors. The work is demanding, the environments are constrained, and the outcomes matter. You will own the engineering across a mix of projects, from fast proof of concept builds through to fully productionised systems, with applied research and client facing work along the way. The culture is collaborative and low ego, with real appetite for sharing knowledge and raising standards across the team. What we are looking for - Genuine depth in ML and AI at the algorithmic level, beyond calling APIs or stitching together frameworks - Expertise in one or more areas such as agentic AI, LLM integration and RAG, AI safety and security, edge AI, explainability, robustness in contested environments, or multi modal AI - Excellent Python skills and a strong grounding in software engineering practice, including testing, code quality, and maintainability - A track record of taking ML systems from research and prototype through to production - Minimum 2:1 from a Russell Group university in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, or a related discipline. Masters or PhD is a bonus - Eligibility for UK SC level security clearance.
