Description
Senior DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes / Azure)
-Munich area, Germany (Hybrid)
This SaaS platform business needs a hands-on DevOps engineer to own its cloud infrastructure, and make releases, operations and monitoring reliable and easy to scale.
About the company
An established B2B software company running a cloud platform for global supply chain collaboration. It connects a large share of the world’s leading industrial companies and has run mission-critical processes for over two decades. It’s growing, with a culture that favours impact over hierarchy and gives people real room to shape their work.
The role
You’ll play a central part in developing and reliably operating the platform’s SaaS infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical role with no people management responsibility, although the internal title is “DevOps Manager”. You’ll work closely with agile development teams, system and operations teams, and external DevOps and service partners.
- Translate the technical and operational needs of development teams into infrastructure changes
- Develop the infrastructure further, working hands-on on technical tasks
- Plan and coordinate go-lives, releases and deployments, and take new services through to handover into operations
- Own configuration management and define patch, update and release strategies for systems and third-party components
- Coordinate infrastructure and operations projects, from requirements through to delivery
- Improve monitoring, performance, middleware and version management with the operations teams
- Act as the central technical link between development, internal departments and external partners
What we’re looking for
You’ll have solid practical experience in DevOps and want to keep working hands-on. You’ll be fluent in Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure, with practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure and its services. Strong AWS experience also works if you’re willing to transfer it to Azure.
You’ll understand IT infrastructure, networking, system administration and the operation of complex software, and have experience in IT projects, including coordinating internal teams and external service providers. Initiative, ownership, assertiveness and a structured way of working matter, as does the ability to take an infrastructure change from requirement through to stable operation.
Fluent German (business level) and very good English are required. A technical degree, IT vocational training or equivalent experience is expected.
Nice to have: Linux/Unix administration.
Benefits
Benefits include flexible working hours, hybrid working, a comprehensive relocation package if you need to move, pension and benefits well above the usual standard, leadership training and strong support for your development.
Logistics
Munich area, hybrid. The process is three conversations: an intro call (remote, around 30 minutes), a technical discussion with the potential manager, and a meeting with the team, ideally on site.
