Our mission is to provide innovative and reliable solutions using cutting edge technology and expertise, to ensure project success and employee satisfaction. NOD is well positioned to play a key role in supporting these programmes, bringing strong technical capability, multidisciplinary delivery expertise and trusted client relationships across the transport sector.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate to join our Transportation team and help shape the successful delivery of this next generation of transport investment. The successful candidate will provide technical, project and commercial leadership across a diverse portfolio of roads, transportation, active travel, public realm, rail and ports projects in Ireland and internationally. Internationally, NOD has an established track record in the delivery of transportation schemes across Africa, including projects in Malawi, Rwanda, Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenya predominantly for Internationally Funded Institute (IFI) projects
An aspect of the role will be supporting NOD in its role as Programme Delivery Partner on the MetroLink Project, one of Ireland’s most important public transport investments, contributing senior transportation, project delivery, coordination and stakeholder management expertise to this landmark programme.

- Lead and oversee multiple projects, ensuring coordinated delivery to agreed scope, programme, budget, quality and commercial objectives.
- Maintain broad technical literacy across transportation team, with sufficient depth to interrogate design assumptions, identify interfaces and risks, challenge technical decisions constructively, and provide authoritative direction on technical and contractual matters.
- Guide engineers and project managers in selecting appropriate analysis, design and delivery approaches; review calculations, reports, drawings, specifications and technical submissions; and ensure that work is proportionate, coordinated, technically robust and compliant with applicable standards.
- Provide senior technical oversight of geometric design for transport schemes, including horizontal and vertical alignment, junction and interchange layouts, cross-sections, visibility, access, active travel integration and coordination with drainage, structures, utilities, geotechnical and environmental constraints.
- Provide senior technical oversight of pavement design and rehabilitation, including interpretation of ground investigation and traffic data, selection of pavement type and materials, pavement thickness design, assessment of existing pavement condition, constructability, whole-life performance, sustainability and coordination of specifications and maintenance requirements.
- Plan resource requirements across existing and future pipelines of work, taking account of project programmes, capacity, utilization and financial needs, and working with the recruitment team to secure appointments where required.
- Monitor project and portfolio performance, including risk, change, resourcing, cash flow, work in progress, invoicing, profitability, quality assurance and compliance with current technical standards and company procedures; identify and implement corrective actions where required.
- Develop and maintain trusted client and partner relationships, identify emerging needs, convert opportunities into viable commissions and support the securing of repeat and new business.

- Oversee pre-qualification and tender submissions, taking responsibility for bid strategy, technical content, fee preparation, commercial inputs, risk review, quality assurance and coordination with the Bid Department.
- Work with other departments to support integrated tendering and service delivery, identify cross-company opportunities, and ensure that secured work is transitioned into commercially successful project delivery.
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness by understanding contractual obligations, managing scope and change, protecting fee recovery and margin, and escalating material commercial risks in a timely manner.
- Provide visible technical leadership to engineers and project managers through coaching, structured reviews and day-to-day guidance; facilitate teams in solving complex problems, explain the basis for decisions, develop sound engineering judgement, and support succession and capability development.
- Promote consistent application of NOD procedures, lessons learned, digital tools and relevant design standards, and create opportunities for staff to broaden their technical knowledge through mentoring, knowledge sharing, peer review and delegated responsibility.
