Description
We are looking for an experienced System Engineer to develop Large Deployable Reflector Subsystems (LDRS). The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background and a minimum of 5 years of experience in space hardware programs. The role involves coordinating engineering teams, managing technical trade-offs, executing verification activities, and ensuring the successful qualification of space systems. Proven knowledge of ECSS standards, AIT/AIV processes, and requirements management is required.
Must-have Experience & Knowledge
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience in space antennas, deployable structures, or mechanisms development programs.
- Strong background in mechanical and structural engineering, preferably complemented by RF engineering experience.
- Experience in systems engineering and the application of ECSS and/or NASA standards.
- Experience with deployable structures, mechanisms, precision structures, or space antenna systems.
- Knowledge of lightweight CFRP structures, metallic interfaces, and space-qualified structural design.
- Knowledge of environmental verification and qualification testing, including vibration, thermal-vacuum, deployment, and functional testing.
- Understanding of the space project lifecycle and review milestones (PDR, CDR, etc.).
Core Responsibilities
- Support system-level engineering activities: requirements management, interface definition, technical trade-offs, and verification planning.
- Technical coordination of internal design, structural, thermal, RF, mechanism, and test teams.
- Definition, planning, and supervision of AIT/AIV activities (functional, deployment, vibration, thermal-vacuum, and performance testing).
- Planning and coordination of hardware procurement, manufacturing, integration, and assembly activities.
- Coordination of external sub-contractors, suppliers, and manufacturing partners, including technical requirements management.
- Maintain traceability of requirements through VCD (Verification Control Document) according to ECSS standards.
- Manage system technical budgets (mass, power) and margins throughout the project lifecycle.
- Preparation and review of technical documentation: design descriptions, analyses, test plans, procedures, and test reports.
- Technical coordination and presentation of design status, verification results, and key technical topics to customers and project partners.
Technical Skills
- Ability to understand and review complex engineering documentation and CAD models.
- Experience with structural analysis and engineering tools such as NASTRAN, ANSYS, and Autodesk Inventor or equivalent.
- Strong analytical skills to understand system architecture and complex technical projects
- Experience with requirements, interfaces, technical trade-offs, and verification activities.
- Familiarity with DOORS or other requirements management tools.
Required Competencies
- Excellent English language proficiency (writing/speaking).
- Strong teamwork, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage technically challenging activities within demanding space programs.
- Strong decision-making skills under technical complexity.
