Description
A technology consultancy is looking for an experienced Principal Electronic Engineer to design and develop advanced analogue, digital and RF systems across a diverse range of research and product development projects.
You’ll work in small multidisciplinary teams and take ownership of electronic designs from initial concept through to manufactured PCBs. You’ll collaborate closely with project leads, embedded software engineers and mechanical engineers, and support rapid-turnaround prototype development for early-stage research. The work covers intelligent sensing systems, embedded processing platforms, RF technologies and bespoke instrumentation, with real technical leadership and the chance to mentor junior engineers.
What you’ll do
- Design complex analogue, digital and RF systems using Altium Designer
- Produce production-ready schematics, PCB layouts and manufacturing data packs
- Develop high-density mixed-signal PCB designs, including high-speed digital and RF circuitry
- Write production and engineering test procedures for board bring-up and validation
- Select components and produce Bills of Materials, weighing performance, availability and supportability
- Work with PCB manufacturers and assembly houses throughout manufacture
- Define digital and power interfaces, mechanical assembly and thermal requirements with software and mechanical colleagues
- Prototype assembly, testing, debugging and hardware validation
- Lead design reviews and support customer progress meetings
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within project teams
What you’ll bring
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
- Extensive Altium Designer experience
- Strong analogue, digital and RF design skills
- Experience designing high-density, mixed-signal PCBs with high-speed digital interfaces
- Good understanding of RF PCB layout, grounding, shielding, impedance control and EMC design
- Experience developing embedded hardware platforms for DSP and SDR applications
- A proven record of taking products from concept through to manufacture
- PCB bring-up, test, debugging, validation and fault-finding experience
- Practical soldering and prototype rework skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and high-quality technical documentation
Advantageous
- Embedded software bring-up and/or FPGA development
Eligibility: Applicants must be sole UK nationals, eligible to work in the UK, and willing to undergo UK security clearance.
Benefits
