Description
Pre-Sales Consultant – Data & AI
Oliver James is recruiting a Pre-Sales Consultant for a specialist data and AI consultancy in Dublin. The firm works with organisations across financial services, the public sector and other regulated industries. Its engagements range from targeted specialist support and dedicated teams of senior practitioners to fixed-scope statement-of-work delivery. It is supported by a network of senior industry practitioners and is growing its consulting practice in Ireland.
The role
You will connect client need with delivery, working with the sales team and senior practitioners. You will turn early conversations into well-scoped, well-priced engagements, and be involved from first discovery through to a signed statement of work.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery with client stakeholders to understand their data and AI challenges, constraints and intended outcomes
- Shape solutions across a range of engagement models, from specialist support to multi-disciplinary teams and fixed-scope delivery
- Write statements of work, proposals and RFP responses with clear scope, approach, assumptions, deliverables and acceptance criteria
- Build effort estimates and pricing models with sales and delivery leads, balancing competitiveness with margin and delivery risk
- Run client workshops, solution presentations and entry-level assessment engagements
- Ensure a clean handover to delivery so that what is sold matches what is delivered
- Contribute to proposition material, case studies and pricing frameworks as the practice grows
Experience required
- Pre-sales, solution consulting or bid management experience within a data, analytics, AI or IT services consultancy
- A track record of scoping and writing statements of work for project-based or outcome-based engagements
- A sound working knowledge of modern data platforms (for example Azure, Databricks, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric) and of how AI initiatives move from proof of concept into production
- Confidence with commercial models, including fixed price, time and materials, and milestone-based structures
- The credibility to engage both senior business stakeholders and technical teams
- Clear, structured writing and the discipline to manage several bids at once
- Experience of Irish public-sector frameworks or regulated financial services would be an advantage
