External Sales Engineer – Gateshead, Tyne and Wear (field-based) About this Role: Are you a technically minded sales professional with a background in industrial automation and control? An established business in the sector is looking for an External Sales Engineer to join its Gateshead branch on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a field sales role where you'll use your technical knowledge to put together solutions for customers, spot new opportunities and see them through to a successful close. You'll be working with customers at every level, from the shop floor to senior decision makers, and building strong relationships with both customers and suppliers. Key Responsibilities: - Use your technical knowledge of automation and control products to develop customer solutions and generate new business - Prepare accurate, competitive sales quotations that meet customer requirements - Work independently to manage your own pipeline and hit sales targets - Build and maintain close relationships with customers and suppliers - Keep your product and technical knowledge up to date with the latest technology What's on Offer: - Competitive salary - Company car - Company pension scheme - Company laptop and mobile phone What We're Looking For: - Proven experience in an external or field-based technical sales role - Strong knowledge of the industrial automation and control industry and its products (e.g. PLCs, drives, sensors, control gear) - Confident dealing with customers at all levels, with the ability to identify opportunities and close them out - Results-driven and customer-focused - Excellent communication and organisational skills - Good IT skills - A team player who can also work well on their own initiative - Full UK driving licence
