Description
Infrastructure Platforms Manager (Network and Hosting)
London, hybrid | Permanent |
Highly competitive + bonus + benefits
A leading global financial services group is looking for an Infrastructure Platforms Manager to lead its Network and Hosting teams and act as deputy to the Head of Infrastructure Platforms.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll run day-to-day operations and engineering delivery across a global hybrid estate, keeping services reliable, secure and cost-effective while pushing forward modernisation, automation and the reduction of technical debt. You’ll work closely with the Cloud Lead to run a single infrastructure roadmap, and you’ll manage a mix of internal engineers and managed service providers.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead and develop the Network and Hosting teams, setting clear priorities and building a collaborative engineering culture. You’ll own a consolidated backlog covering incidents, maintenance, risk remediation and project work, and turn infrastructure strategy into practical roadmaps with measurable outcomes.
On the operations side, you’ll oversee availability, performance and capacity across data centres, colocation and office sites, embed SRE practices, drive problem management and root-cause analysis, and act as a senior escalation point for complex cross-tower issues.
Technically, you’ll oversee LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, data centre networking and hybrid connectivity, alongside compute, VMware virtualisation, Windows and Linux platforms, storage, backup and recovery. You’ll extend Infrastructure as Code as the default way of deploying, and coordinate DR testing, audits and control evidence in a regulated environment.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience leading infrastructure engineering or operations teams across both network and hosting in a hybrid environment
- Deep technical expertise in either networking or hosting, with enough breadth in the other to challenge designs and lead troubleshooting
- Solid knowledge of routing, switching, SD-WAN, firewalls, load balancing, DNS and segmentation
- Experience with VMware, server and storage infrastructure, backup and DR, and Windows and Linux
- Hands-on Microsoft Azure experience, particularly hybrid networking and security
- Experience managing MSPs and internal teams against competing priorities
- Practical automation and IaC experience (Terraform, Ansible or similar), with version control and peer review
- A background in financial services or another regulated environment

Why apply
It’s a genuine step into a deputy role at an highly prestigious firm with real scope to shape how infrastructure is run. You’ll be close to strategy without losing the hands-on engineering side.
The role requires occasional out-of-hours support for P1 incidents and planned changes.
