Description
Bio-Physicist with Machine Learning Expertise as Technical Co-Founder in a Biotech Startup
About the Venture
We are looking for a Technical Co-Founder for a biotech startup currently in formation. The venture is developing a platform for personalised cancer therapies and originates from a spin-out initiative involving LMU Munich and Helmholtz Munich.
The founding team currently consists of two co-founders, supported by two experienced industry advisors with backgrounds in the pharmaceutical sector.
Our approach focuses on developing molecular shuttles and carriers that transport therapeutic agents to tumour cells, enabling targeted treatment while minimising unwanted side effects.
We use AI to design and train these therapeutic shuttles. Initial models are already in place, and our long-term goal is to develop a comprehensive library of AI-designed therapeutic shuttles.
Your Role as Technical Co-Founder
- Further develop and train our AI models to optimise and scale the design of therapeutic shuttles.
- Develop proprietary AI algorithms to advance our platform.
- Contribute to frontend and backend development, as well as commercial projects.
- Prepare grant applications and funding proposals to secure non-dilutive funding and research grants.
- Contribute to startup fundraising and investor discussions.
What You Bring
- A degree in biophysics or a closely related discipline that provides a strong foundation for working at the interface of physics, biology and computational modelling.
- Hands-on experience with biophysical workflows. This is a core requirement.
- Initial practical experience in training machine learning models or AI algorithms.
- An open-minded approach and the willingness to apply your expertise to other challenges in medicine and drug discovery.
- Publications in relevant scientific journals are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in English and German, enabling effective collaboration with the founding team, industry advisors, technology transfer organisations, investors and public funding bodies.
Above all, we are looking for someone who combines scientific depth with computational expertise and the ambition to turn research into a scalable technology platform.
What We Offer
As Technical Co-Founder, you will join two ambitious founders who are passionate about advancing the next generation of cancer therapies.
You can expect an open, transparent and results-driven environment, complemented by the expertise of experienced advisors from the pharmaceutical industry.
Our base is Munich, Germany. Given the next stages of development, we expect the successful candidate to work with us on-site. A hybrid arrangement may be possible.
As a co-founder, you will receive an equity stake in the company to be incorporated shortly. We also expect a decision in the coming weeks on a seven-figure, non-dilutive funding commitment.
This is an opportunity to shape the technical direction of an early-stage biotech venture from the outset and help turn a promising scientific approach into a platform with the potential to transform personalised cancer treatment.
