Cloud Engineer

As part of our long-standing partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA), we are looking for a Cloud Engineer to join our team onsite at ESTEC in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. In this role, you will support the design, deployment and operation of secure and reliable cloud infrastructure and services, working across cloud and hybrid environments to ensure their availability, performance and security. Responsibilities - Design, deploy, configure and maintain cloud infrastructure and services - Provision and manage virtual machines, storage, networking, databases and supporting cloud resources - Maintain cloud environments across development, testing, staging and production - Ensure cloud services meet agreed availability, performance and capacity requirements - Support hybrid-cloud connectivity between cloud and on-premises infrastructure - Implement cloud security controls in accordance with organisational security requirements - Configure identity and access management, roles, permissions and privileged access - Apply least-privilege and role-based access control principles - Manage network security controls, including security groups, firewall rules, private networks and access restrictions Profile - Experience administering public, private and hybrid cloud environments - Strong understanding of cloud compute, storage, networking, virtualisation and container technologies - Good knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing and network segmentation - Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM), authentication, authorisation, RBAC, least privilege and privileged access - Good understanding of cloud security principles, including security hardening, vulnerability management, encryption, certificate management and secrets management - Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Bash or equivalent technologies - Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting and performance management solutions - Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills - Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary technical teams - Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise activities in dynamic operational environments - EU nationality - Able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance in line with ESA security and export control requirements What we Offer: More than just a job At Serco, we believe that a career should come with more than just a paycheck, it should provide support, security, and a sense of balance in your life.
