Description
IT Architect
Job Description
Company Profile
The organization is a global, family-owned trading business operating in high-volume, high-volatility dairy markets across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. With a strong logistics and supply chain backbone, the company is running a broad transformation program to move toward a cloud-first, data-driven and AI-supported IT landscape.
Today, the IT landscape runs on JD Edwards as ERP, Azure as the primary cloud, OCI for diversification, Boomi as the integration backbone and OutSystems for application enablement. As part of the transformation, the organization is preparing the move to a future ERP platform and strengthening information security toward ISO 27001 certification. To guide these changes, the company is looking for a hands-on IT Architect.
Role Purpose
The IT Architect designs and safeguards the architecture of the IT landscape throughout the transformation program.
Working closely with the CIO, IT and business teams, and implementation partners, the IT Architect turns business needs into practical, secure and scalable solution designs, ensuring every initiative—from the future ERP to integration, data and AI—fits into one coherent landscape.
This is a hands-on role: the IT Architect designs solutions personally and stays involved from design through implementation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Architecture & Roadmap
- Translate business requirements into target architectures, solution designs and transition roadmaps.
- Maintain an up-to-date view of the application, integration, data and infrastructure landscape.
- Drive legacy rationalization and system simplification.
- Act as design authority: review solution designs and set standards for cloud, integration and data.
2. Future ERP Transition
- Shape the architecture for the selection of, and transition to, a future ERP platform.
- Define how the future ERP fits with surrounding applications, integrations, data and master data.
- Plan migration and coexistence with the current JD Edwards landscape, minimizing business disruption.
- Provide architectural assessments in vendor and implementation-partner selection.
3. Integration, Data & AI
- Design API-driven integration through the Boomi integration backbone (or equivalent iPaaS).
- Contribute to the Azure-based data platform and Master Data Management.
- Support AI use cases such as trading optimization, contract analytics and margin insights.
- Enable automation of order, contract and transport documentation.
4. Cloud, Security & Compliance
- Design Azure-based cloud solutions, with OCI for diversification, following a SaaS- and cloud-first approach.
- Embed security-by-design and DevSecOps principles in all solution designs.
- Support ISO 27001 certification and follow-up of security audits from the architecture side.
- Ensure scalability, resilience and compliance across global operations.
Experience & Profile
Required Experience
- 10+ years in IT, with substantial hands-on experience as an IT, solution or enterprise architect.
- Experience architecting a large ERP transition, upgrade or cloud migration; understanding the complexity matters more than the specific platform (e.g. SAP, Microsoft, Infor, Oracle/JD Edwards).
- Strong cloud architecture experience, preferably Azure, ideally gained in a cloud-first organization.
- Integration expertise (APIs, iPaaS such as Boomi).
- Good understanding of information security and compliance (e.g. ISO 27001, GDPR).
- Experience in a trading environment is a strong plus; financial services or other regulated, international environments are also valued.
- TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification preferred.
Personal Profile
- Hands-on architect who enjoys designing solutions and staying close to delivery.
- Social, approachable and energetic; fits a youthful, collaborative team.
- Connects easily with business stakeholders, not only with IT.
- Able to simplify complex landscapes and explain choices in plain language.
- Pragmatic, with high ownership and accountability.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, high-volatility business environment.
Success Metrics
- Target architecture and roadmap agreed with the CIO and business.
- Future ERP architecture defined and transition plan approved.
- Integration, cloud and data standards in place and applied in projects.
- Architecture contribution to successful ISO 27001 certification.
- Reduction of system fragmentation and decommissioning of redundant applications.
- First AI and document-automation use cases in production.
