Description
Linux Systems Administrator / Platform Engineer | Up to £50,000 | Hybrid- Redditch
Want to actually own the infrastructure, rather than just look after a small part of it?
If you’ve spent years working with Linux and Docker, but feel like you’re one of many engineers in a big team, this could be an interesting move.
You’ll work directly with the Head of Platforms to run the infrastructure that keeps an established online business operating. You’ll have a genuine say in how the platform is managed, improved and developed.
What makes it interesting?
- You’ll take ownership of a private Linux platform with around 30 nodes and 350 containers.
- You’ll get involved in architectural decisions, not just BAU tickets.
- You’ll have the freedom to suggest better ways of doing things and actually implement them.
- You’ll join a supportive, flexible business without the chaos of a start-up.
What are they looking for?
Strong, hands-on Linux administration experience (ideally Ubuntu or Debian) is the big one. You should also have experience running Docker containers, with some understanding of orchestration, security, patching and networking.
Kubernetes experience would be useful, but you won’t need to know every tool in their stack.
They use technologies including Nomad, Consul, Vault and SaltStack, which you can learn.
This isn’t really an AWS/GCP engineering role. It’s an opportunity to apply that cloud-style thinking to a private platform where you can see the impact of your work.
Up to £50,000 | Remote-first | Ideally 1-2 Redditch office visits a month, with flexibility for the right person.
