Description
About The Role
Nopex is an AI-agent-native platform for software delivery: teams of specialised AI agents plan, build, test, deploy, and operate software for our customers. For that to work, the platform behind it has to run around the clock.
As a Senior Ops Engineer, you own that. You decide how we run, monitor, and roll out, help build our on-call rotation, and you're the one who keeps the overview during a major incident. Lots of ops, a bit of development – and enough experience to fix problems before they wake anyone up at night.
AI-native means you work with AI agents every day. They analyse incidents, propose root causes and fixes, and handle the legwork – you review, decide, and sign off. And you help shape how agents take on even more of the operational work.
Your responsibilities
- Own the reliability, security, and performance of the Nopex platform – for our own systems and our customers' workloads
- Build and share on-call: rotation, escalation, runbooks – and lead the response to major incidents
- Run postmortems and make sure root causes actually get fixed
- Evolve our operations architecture: deployments, backups, disaster recovery, monitoring, and alerting
- Shape releases and database migrations so they are safe and reversible
- Plan cost and capacity and prepare infrastructure decisions
- Automate where it hurts: scripts, pipelines, small tools, and targeted fixes in the code
- Push AI agents forward in operations: runbooks for agents, agent-assisted incident analysis, clear limits on what agents may do alone
- Onboard and mentor colleagues on the ops team
What you bring
- 5+ years running production systems – as an ops, SRE, DevOps, or platform engineer
- You have carried on-call for a production system and led incidents
- Deep experience with containers and container orchestration in production
- Confident in Linux, networking (DNS, TLS, load balancers), and security fundamentals
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and running databases (backups, restores, migrations)
- Enough of a developer to write scripts and make fixes in a TypeScript codebase
- You already use AI agents in your ops work – and know where not to trust them blindly
- Good German and English
Nice to have
- Experience with several cloud providers or a move between providers
- Observability in depth: metrics, logs, traces, meaningful SLOs
- Experience with LLM APIs or agent systems
- Experience building an ops team or an on-call rotation from scratch
What we offer
- Real ownership: you shape how an AI-native platform is run
- AI agents as colleagues: they handle analysis and legwork, you make the calls
- Small senior team – few meetings, lots of room to shape things, decisions in days
- On-call with a clear rotation and compensation
- Karlsruhe office – on-site, with the option of home office on some days
- Espresso machine and soft drinks at the office
- 30 days vacation, top equipment
- Conferences & events – we want you connected
