About the Role We are looking for an enthusiastic Platform Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will contribute to the development, maintenance and improvement of modern container platforms and cloud infrastructure. You will work with technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Kubernetes and Terraform. A key part of your work will involve supporting container security initiatives, improving image hardening practices and contributing to secure-by-design engineering principles. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers, giving you the opportunity to further develop your technical expertise in cloud-native technologies, automation, container security and platform operations. Key Responsibilities - Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of container platforms running on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). - Contribute to container image hardening initiatives to improve security and reduce vulnerabilities. - Support the implementation of secure-by-design engineering practices across the platform environment. - Work with Microsoft Azure services and gain further experience with cloud infrastructure. - Read, understand and contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) configurations using Terraform. - Support Azure networking and infrastructure-related activities. - Contribute to monitoring, logging and observability practices to ensure platform reliability and performance. - Collaborate with experienced engineers on automation, vulnerability management and platform operations. - Identify opportunities to improve platform stability, security and operational efficiency. Requirements We are looking for someone with a strong interest in cloud technologies, infrastructure and security. Essential requirements: - A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or a related technical field. A Master's degree is preferred. - A basic understanding of Microsoft Azure services. - Familiarity with container technologies and an understanding of Kubernetes concepts. - An understanding of container image hardening principles and container security. - Familiarity with Azure networking concepts. - Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. - The ability to read and understand Terraform configurations. - An understanding of monitoring, logging and observability concepts. - A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop within a collaborative engineering environment. Nice to have: - Hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). - Experience working with Docker or other container technologies. - Exposure to cloud security, vulnerability management or DevSecOps practices. - Experience with automation and infrastructure management.
