Description

About the Company We’re Genie.Knowledge, a small Berlin-based team building technology for the logistics industry. There are four of us: two co-founders (CEO and CTO) and two founding engineers (full-stack and ML). After two years of custom software for logistics companies, we’re now building our own product as well. Our product is the Intelligent Logistics Pricing Platform. It combines a pricing engine, a market intelligence engine and an adaptive semantic API integration layer. It uses knowledge graphs and semantic technologies to connect data across different systems and sources. The platform tackles the industry’s hardest pricing problems: fragmented data, complex pricing structures, manual processes, and little visibility into costs, market conditions and profitability. Logistics companies get better pricing without replacing the systems they already run. About the Role You'll help shape the backend architecture of a platform that is still early in its life: data model, integrations, services, and the event-driven plumbing between them. Day to day that means designing how new solutions fit into the platform, building them in Python on PostgreSQL, and keeping them running. Your main focus is our own product, with the chance to work on customer projects too. What you will do - Integrate the platform with customers' systems and the files they send. - Design the shared data model: shipments, prices, invoices, market data, and the ontology that ties them together across customers' systems. - Build and run the data pipelines that feed it. - Build FastAPI services on PostgreSQL across several solutions. - Run delivery: CI/CD, staging, gated production deploys, monitoring, backups. - Automate manual workflows, with human review where needed. - Build new custom solutions for customers on top of the platform. - Work on client projects and support what's in production. What you'll bring - Strong backend engineering, Python preferred. - Integrations you have built with operational business systems (ERP, TMS, WMS, CRM or similar) over APIs, files or EDI. You know how they fail and how to recover. - Data pipelines you have run in production on messy, inconsistent source data. - PostgreSQL in production: schema design, performance, migrations. - Operational experience with your own services: deployment, monitoring, incident handling. - You use AI coding tools and like working that way. - Comfortable working in English. Nice-to-haves - Event-driven architecture: message queues, event streams, asynchronous services. - Production systems you have designed end to end: multi-tenant data, background jobs, deployment. - AWS with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code; Docker. - Security and GDPR in practice: tenant isolation, access control, audit trails. - Logistics or supply-chain experience, visibility platforms (Shippeo, project44 or similar). - Orchestration and background workers (Airflow or similar). - Knowledge graphs, ontologies, semantic data models. - Document extraction pipelines. - React/Next.js. A little about our culture We're an English-speaking team of curious, slightly nerdy people who like what we do and joke about it a lot. Communication is open and direct: anyone can share ideas, challenge decisions and disagree. Hierarchy and formality aren't our thing. Being small, we all wear different hats. We value people who figure things out and take ownership rather than wait for instructions. We like new tech, but solving the actual problem beats using the fanciest tool. What we offer - €55–70K gross per year, depending on seniority. - 28 days of paid vacation per year. - Hybrid work: 3–4 days a week together at our office near Ostkreuz in Berlin. - Remote work from abroad: up to 30 days a year from within the EU, plus 30 days from outside the EU (subject to statutory regulations). - Help build something from the beginning, with a real say in technical decisions and how the product evolves. - Room to learn and experiment with new approaches and challenges you haven't met before. - A small team where your voice matters: you work directly with the founders and founding engineers. - A friendly, informal atmosphere with plenty of humour and nerdy conversations.
