Description

Senior DevOps Engineer Shape the Future of Global Maritime Operations Every day, ships, terminals, traders and surveyors coordinate complex vessel operations through documents, email and phone calls. UAB-Online brings these stakeholders together in one platform, making liquid and dry bulk operations safer, more efficient and more sustainable. With 10,000+ users across 100+ terminals and more than one million vessel visits handled, we’re scaling internationally. We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to strengthen our Azure platform and help our engineering team deliver dependable software. Location: Mijdrecht, the Netherlands — hybrid, two office days per week The opportunity You’ll be our only dedicated DevOps engineer, owning the Azure infrastructure and delivery processes behind our product. Following a focused onboarding, we expect you to run the platform independently within approximately three months, ideally sooner. Around half your time will focus on platform improvements, alongside developer support, administration and occasional incident response. You’ll collaborate with developers and QA and coordinate our external managed-service partner for maintenance, specialist advice and larger projects. An early priority will be helping bring AI agents into our software development lifecycle, ensuring secure tooling, reliable environments and appropriate delivery controls. What you’ll do - Own and improve our Azure platform’s reliability, security, scalability and cost efficiency. - Operate, troubleshoot and upgrade production AKS environments. - Automate infrastructure with Bicep, PowerShell and Azure CLI. - Improve CI/CD pipelines, self-hosted agents and deployment workflows. Most pipelines run in Azure DevOps (code hosted on GitHub); a gradual move to GitHub may follow later. - Strengthen monitoring and alerting, resolve incidents with engineering colleagues and implement preventive improvements. - Manage Entra ID and Azure RBAC, including periodic access reviews. - Maintain disaster-recovery and business-continuity runbooks and carry out restore tests. - Support ISO 27001 technical compliance; a colleague leads compliance and audits. - Coordinate our managed-service partner and improve developer tooling and secure AI-assisted workflows. - What you’ll bring: - Five or more years of hands-on DevOps, cloud or platform engineering experience. - Strong Azure expertise and independent ownership of production environments. - Proven experience operating and troubleshooting production AKS clusters. - Practical experience writing and maintaining Bicep. - Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines, GitHub and scripting with PowerShell and/or Azure CLI. - Solid cloud networking, security, monitoring and incident-management skills. - Clear communication, practical judgement and the ability to understand an existing platform quickly. Our stack includes Azure Front Door, API Management, Azure SQL, Redis, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights. Experience with AI-assisted engineering, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI or Azure serverless services is welcome. Why join UAB-Online? You’ll work on software supporting critical maritime operations worldwide. In a growing company of around 30 people, communication is direct, decisions have visible impact and there’s room to shape how we work. We offer: - Hybrid working, with two office days per week in Mijdrecht. - Meaningful ownership, with substantial time for platform improvements. - Close collaboration with Engineering, Product and QA. - An on-call allowance and time off in lieu for applicable out-of-hours work. Some flexibility is needed for planned upgrades and rare critical incidents outside office hours. Help us make cloud platforms dependable and shape the future of maritime software. Apply with your CV and a brief introduction highlighting your Azure, AKS and Bicep experience.
