Head of eQMS Consulting

Location: Barcelona, Spain Work arrangement: Hybrid Employment type: Permanent, full-time About the Role An established international consulting organisation is seeking an experienced Head of eQMS Consulting to lead the strategic development, growth and operational performance of its electronic Quality Management Systems (eQMS) consulting practice. This is a senior leadership role combining technical expertise, consulting delivery, business development and people management. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the service offering, leading a team of consultants and project professionals, strengthening client relationships and driving the continued growth of the practice. The role requires substantial experience in the implementation of electronic Quality Management Systems within regulated Life Sciences environments, particularly the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Key Responsibilities Strategy and Business Development - Define and execute the strategic direction and growth plan for the eQMS consulting practice. - Identify new business opportunities and support the development of the client portfolio. - Develop service offerings, commercial strategies, pricing approaches and go-to-market plans. - Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and senior stakeholders. - Contribute to market positioning and the identification of new opportunities within the Life Sciences sector. Consulting Delivery and Operational Management - Oversee the delivery of eQMS consulting and implementation projects, ensuring quality, timelines and client expectations are met. - Provide strategic oversight throughout the implementation lifecycle, from initial assessment and requirements definition through validation, deployment and post-go-live support. - Ensure consistent delivery standards, methodologies and best practices across projects. - Monitor operational performance, including project pipeline, backlog, resource utilisation and delivery capacity. - Identify opportunities to improve processes, methodologies and service delivery. Leadership and Team Development - Lead, develop and manage a multidisciplinary team of eQMS consultants, project managers and technical specialists. - Define team structure, resource requirements and recruitment priorities in line with business growth. - Foster a collaborative, high-performance and client-focused culture. - Support the professional development and technical growth of team members. Client and Stakeholder Management - Act as a senior point of contact for key clients and strategic accounts. - Lead client discussions, workshops and executive-level presentations. - Translate client requirements into effective consulting solutions. - Work closely with internal stakeholders to align business development, project delivery and operational priorities. Required Experience and Qualifications - Significant professional experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or broader Life Sciences industry. - Strong knowledge of GMP/GxP-regulated environments and quality management requirements. - Proven experience leading or managing eQMS implementation projects within regulated Life Sciences organisations. - Practical understanding of electronic Quality Management Systems and their implementation lifecycle, including requirements assessment, system selection, validation, deployment and post-implementation activities. - Hands-on experience with eQMS platforms used in regulated Life Sciences environments. - Demonstrated experience in consulting, client-facing roles and managing complex projects. - Proven people-management and leadership experience. - Strong commercial awareness, including business development and client relationship management. - Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder-management skills. - Full professional fluency in both Spanish and English. Desirable Experience - Experience building, developing or scaling a consulting practice or service line. - Established professional network within the European pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. - Project management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2, or equivalent experience. - Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies. - Additional European languages. Candidate Profile We are particularly interested in professionals who combine strong eQMS implementation expertise with strategic and commercial capabilities. Relevant backgrounds may include: - Senior eQMS consultants ready to take on a broader leadership role. - Quality or IT leaders with substantial experience managing eQMS implementation programmes. - Senior project or programme managers with a strong track record in digital quality transformation within regulated Life Sciences environments. - Consulting professionals with experience developing teams, managing client relationships and growing service offerings. Important: Candidates whose experience is limited to traditional manual QMS processes, paper-based quality management or general Quality Assurance activities, without direct eQMS implementation experience, will not be considered.
