Description
At Famedly we build secure communication for regulated markets: healthcare and other industries with high demands on security and compliance. Alongside our product, we deliver customizations, customer-specific projects and integrations for large organizations.
As Head of Engineering (m/f/d), you lead our engineering team of currently around 30 engineers and report to our top management. You make sure we deliver reliably, attract and keep great people, and grow as an organization.
Your responsibilities
- Lead and develop the team: hiring, onboarding, feedback, performance reviews, career paths. Coach team leads and engineers.
- Work hand in hand with our Head of Product, jointly owning the roadmap, priorities and capacity planning
- Ensure reliable delivery of product and customer projects, measured by clear engineering metrics
- Evolve our engineering practices: code reviews, testing, CI/CD, releases, operations and incident management
- Build quality, security and compliance into the development process and support audits and certifications
- Own the engineering budget and headcount planning, including infrastructure, licenses and external partners
- Be the point of contact for stakeholders: leadership, sales, customer success and, on large projects, customers
What you should bring
- Several years of experience leading engineering teams, ideally including team leads
- Experience delivering and operating software reliably for enterprise customers
- A strong technical background in software development and experience with modern practices such as CI/CD, automated testing and DevOps
- You translate between business and technology, explain trade-offs clearly and make decisions under uncertainty.
- A people-centered leadership style and joy in helping people grow
- Openness to new technologies and ways of working
- German language skills at C1 level and fluent English
Nice to have
- Experience in regulated environments (e.g. healthcare, public sector, finance, critical infrastructure)
- Experience running product development and customer projects in parallel
- Experience with distributed or remote teams and with scaling teams
Please note: For this position, we are currently only able to consider applications from candidates based in Germany.
