Cloud Infrastructure Lead Location: Cork Contract: To be confirmed Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Lead to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering enterprise cloud infrastructure and platform services across Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, delivery oversight and resource management across a portfolio of cloud infrastructure initiatives. They will lead Cloud Architects, Cloud Engineers and DevOps Engineers, ensuring solutions are delivered securely, consistently and in alignment with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity standards and operational requirements. This role will play a key part in driving cloud transformation, infrastructure modernisation and the adoption of automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices. Acting as a central point of contact between Architecture, Security, Operations, Project Delivery, external suppliers and business stakeholders, the Cloud Infrastructure Lead will ensure effective coordination, governance and successful delivery of strategic technology initiatives. Key Responsibilities - Lead the end-to-end delivery of cloud infrastructure projects, from initial planning and design through to implementation and production handover. - Oversee a portfolio of cloud infrastructure activities across multiple programmes and concurrent projects. - Establish and manage delivery plans, resource forecasts, priorities, milestones and dependencies. - Monitor delivery progress, proactively identifying and managing risks, issues, assumptions and technical challenges. - Provide leadership and direction to Cloud Architects, Cloud Engineers and DevOps Engineers, ensuring effective resource allocation and delivery performance. - Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation and reusable cloud infrastructure patterns. - Ensure consistency across cloud networking, identity management, security, monitoring and operational architecture. - Work closely with Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, Cybersecurity and Operations teams to ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards. - Establish and maintain strong relationships with programme managers, senior stakeholders, technical teams and external suppliers. - Manage third-party vendors, contractors and outsourced resources, ensuring delivery quality and adherence to agreed timelines. - Provide clear and regular reporting on delivery progress, resource requirements, risks and key decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Ensure cloud infrastructure solutions are successfully transitioned into operational support, with appropriate documentation, monitoring and service management processes in place. - Promote continuous improvement across cloud engineering practices, delivery governance and platform capabilities. Required Experience & Skills - 8+ years' experience in Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Delivery, Cloud Architecture or Platform Engineering. - 3+ years' experience leading cloud engineering, infrastructure or architecture teams. - Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure solutions within Microsoft Azure. - Experience managing complex cloud infrastructure delivery portfolios across multiple concurrent projects or programmes. - Strong understanding of Azure infrastructure, including networking, identity and access management, security, governance and monitoring. - Practical experience delivering Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly using Terraform. - Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation. - Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, infrastructure design and enterprise technology environments. - Demonstrable experience managing technical teams, coordinating resources and driving delivery against project milestones. - Proven stakeholder management experience, with the ability to engage effectively across technical, operational and business functions. - Experience managing external suppliers, contractors and outsourced delivery partners. - Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex delivery environment. Desirable Experience - Exposure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and multi-cloud environments. - Experience working within large-scale enterprise cloud transformation or infrastructure modernisation programmes. - Knowledge of cloud operating models, service transition and production support frameworks. - Experience establishing cloud governance frameworks, engineering standards and reusable infrastructure patterns. - Relevant cloud certifications, such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be an experienced cloud infrastructure leader who combines strong technical knowledge with proven people management and delivery capabilities. They will be comfortable leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, overseeing complex cloud delivery portfolios and engaging with senior stakeholders across architecture, security, operations and programme delivery. A hands-on understanding of Azure infrastructure, Terraform and DevOps practices is essential, alongside the ability to drive governance, manage resources and ensure the successful delivery of enterprise cloud solutions.
