Senior Full Stack Engineer (Java / React) | Remote from Portugal

We are looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team working on large-scale enterprise platforms. This is an opportunity for a hands-on technical expert who thrives in complex environments, contributes to architectural decisions, and leads by example while remaining actively involved in software development. - Only candidates currently residing in Portugal will be considered for this opportunity - Full Remote from Portugal Key Responsibilities - Design and implement scalable, secure, and production-ready software solutions. - Lead technical discussions and contribute to architecture decisions across distributed systems. - Develop and maintain high-quality back-end services and front-end applications. - Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. - Drive engineering excellence by reducing technical debt and improving software quality. - Collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions. - Promote best engineering practices, including automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery. - Contribute to the adoption of AI-assisted development practices and the integration of AI capabilities into applications where appropriate. Required Skills & Experience - 8+ years of experience in software engineering within large-scale enterprise environments. - Strong expertise in Java, including Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud. - Solid experience designing and developing Microservices and REST APIs. - Strong front-end development experience with React (4+ years), TypeScript, and advanced JavaScript. - Experience working with Kubernetes or Cloud Foundry. - Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, particularly with Jenkins. - Experience with distributed systems, resilience patterns, observability, and cloud-native architectures. - Strong knowledge of Extreme Programming (XP) practices, including TDD, BDD, remote Pair Programming, and code reviews. - Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Selenium/Protractor. - Practical experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT to improve productivity, code quality, testing, and refactoring. - Knowledge of LLM integration and AI-powered application development is highly valued. - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. - Fluent English, both written and spoken. - Strong engineering mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for technical leadership.
