Senior Software Engineer

Nicoll Curtin is partnering with a leading government organisation undertaking a number of strategic technology initiatives. We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to join a high-performing team responsible for building and enhancing secure, scalable applications that support critical public services. This is an excellent opportunity to work on meaningful projects while contributing to the modernisation of key systems used across the public sector. Responsibilities - Write clean, high-quality, maintainable Python code - Develop and enhance web applications using Django or Flask - Design and optimise PostgreSQL databases and queries - Build and integrate APIs and backend services - Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet organisational objectives - Support testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of applications - Participate in code reviews and contribute to development best practices - Work within Agile teams to deliver high-quality software solutions Requirements - 3+ years' commercial experience as a Software Developer or Python Developer - Strong Python development experience - Hands-on experience with Django and/or Flask - Experience working with PostgreSQL databases - Strong understanding of REST APIs and backend application development - Experience with software design principles and object-oriented programming - Exposure to Agile/Scrum development environments - Excellent communication and problem-solving skills - Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience What's on Offer? - Opportunity to work on projects that have a direct impact on public services - Long-term career progression within a stable environment - Collaborative and highly skilled engineering team - Hybrid working model - Competitive salary and benefits package
