About the Job Senior Mechatronics Engineer | Hybrid | East Netherlands Job Title: Senior Mechatronics Engineer Location: East Netherlands (Hybrid) Working Hours: 32-40 hours per week The Role We are seeking an experienced Mechatronics Engineer to take a leading role in the development of complex precision machinery. You will be responsible for defining and governing mechatronic system performance, ensuring the successful integration of mechanics, control systems, sensors, metrology technologies, and software into a scalable and manufacturable platform. Key Responsibilities - Own the overall mechatronic system architecture and translate product requirements into technical specifications. - Define mechatronic sub-systems and derive quantitative requirements relating to motion control, accuracy, vibration behavior, stiffness, latency, bandwidth, and sensor performance. - Establish and validate performance budgets across mechanical, control, sensing, and measurement domains. - Develop and guide modelling, simulation, and control strategies to ensure demanding performance targets are achieved. - Drive the integration of precision mechanics, real-time control systems, and advanced measurement technologies. - Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external development partners on subsystem design and implementation. - Support the development, testing, integration, and validation of prototypes and initial production systems. - Ensure machines meet functional and performance requirements during verification and industrialisation phases. - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers. - Contribute to strategic engineering decisions, technology roadmaps, and future product development initiatives. - Work within internationally distributed teams and participate in occasional travel to engineering and manufacturing sites. What We're Looking For - Master's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline. - 10+ years of experience in high-tech equipment, precision machinery, semiconductor systems, or comparable advanced engineering environments. - Strong expertise in mechatronic system design and multidisciplinary machine development. - Extensive knowledge of real-time control systems and high-performance motion control. - Experience working with precision measurement, sensing, or metrology technologies. - Demonstrated experience developing high-accuracy positioning or motion systems. - Strong understanding of system engineering methodologies and requirements decomposition. - Experience translating customer and product requirements into measurable engineering specifications. - Ability to define and validate system-level performance budgets across multiple engineering disciplines. - Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities when addressing complex technical challenges. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across multidisciplinary teams. - Fluency in both Dutch and English. - A proactive, self-starting approach combined with the ability to independently lead technical initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechatronics professional who enjoys solving highly complex technical challenges and influencing the architecture of next-generation precision systems. You will join a growing engineering organisation where innovation, technical ownership, and international collaboration are central to delivering world-class industrial technology.
