Description Staff Accountant About the role We are hiring Staff Accountants to work 100% remotely from Mexico for small and mid-sized companies and CPA firms in the US. What you will do - Run the monthly close: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation and payroll entries. - Reconcile bank, credit card, AP, AR and balance sheet accounts every month. - Prepare monthly financial statements and variance explanations for the controller or owner. - Maintain fixed asset, loan and lease schedules. - Support year-end: prepare audit or tax packages for the outside CPA. - Review the bookkeeper's or AP/AR specialist's work and fix coding errors. - Improve close checklists and spreadsheets so each month gets faster. What you bring Must have - Bachelor's degree in accounting (Contaduría Pública) or finance. - 3+ years in general accounting with ownership of month-end close. - Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP concepts: accrual accounting, revenue recognition, balance sheet reconciliations. - Intermediate-to-advanced English (B2+) for written reports and calls with the controller. - Advanced Excel: pivot tables, lookups, building reconciliation schedules. Nice to have - Experience at a U.S. company, a Big 4 or mid-tier firm, or an outsourced accounting firm serving U.S. clients. - QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Xero. - Job costing or WIP schedules for construction or manufacturing. Requirements Staff Accountant Must Have: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. - 3+ years of general accounting experience. - Hands-on ownership of month-end close. - Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accruals, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations. - Experience preparing financial statements and variance analysis. - Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation schedules). - English B2+ for professional communication and financial reporting. - Experience with U.S. companies, CPA firms, or outsourced accounting firms. - QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or Xero. - Experience with fixed assets, loans, leases, and audit/tax support. - Job costing or WIP schedules in construction or manufacturing.
