The role We are looking for an AI Software Engineer to join an Engineering Methods & Tools team, developing practical AI solutions that improve engineering productivity and support innovation. Working closely with AI software engineers, data scientists, product owners and engineering stakeholders, you will contribute across the development lifecycle—from initial prototypes through to testing, deployment and ongoing support. What you will be doing - Designing, developing and testing AI and machine-learning solutions for engineering applications. - Building maintainable, scalable software and turning prototypes into reliable production applications. - Developing and managing data pipelines, ensuring data quality. - Supporting system integration, cloud deployment and transition into operation. - Creating evaluation frameworks, benchmarks and automated tests to assess model performance, output quality and reliability. - Troubleshooting deployed AI systems, addressing model limitations and identifying performance regressions. - Contributing to technical reviews, sharing progress and promoting development best practices. - Maintaining clear technical documentation throughout development. Skills and experience - 2–5 years of relevant experience in AI software engineering, machine learning engineering or software development involving AI applications. - Strong Python programming skills and a sound understanding of software engineering principles. Additional programming languages would be advantageous. - Practical experience in one or more of the following: LLMs, machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing or computer vision. - Experience testing, evaluating and deploying AI applications, with an understanding of ongoing maintenance and reliability. - Knowledge of cloud platforms; AWS experience is advantageous. - Experience working with databases, data stores and data pipelines. - Familiarity with statistical analysis and data visualisation. - Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a technical team. Education A degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Interested?
