Principal AI Engineer

I'm representing a well-funded AI startup in Central London building a next-generation enterprise AI platform, bringing people, autonomous agents and business-critical systems together. We're looking for a Principal AI Engineer who wants to go beyond LLM integrations and take genuine ownership of the architecture behind production-grade autonomous agents. Building an AI agent that works is relatively easy. Building one you can trust to operate autonomously, securely and reliably across an enterprise? The key skills we're looking for: - Agentic AI: Production LLM systems, Python, LangGraph, agent orchestration and tool calling. - Evaluation & reliability: Agent trajectory evaluations, error analysis, retrieval and generation quality, and production monitoring. - Systems engineering: TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, queues and Google Cloud infrastructure. - LLM optimisation: Experience across multiple model providers, balancing quality, inference costs and latency. - Agent security: Sandboxed execution, permissions, tool integrations and human-in-the-loop approvals.
