To learn more, visit: Planet DDS . - This is a hybrid position working 1-2x per week in our Glasgow, Scotland office. Overview The Site Reliability Engineer IV will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our production infrastructure and reliability practices. This senior-level, hands-on role will be instrumental in building scalable, resilient, and secure systems, while mentoring the SRE team and influencing architectural decisions across our SaaS platforms. The SRE IV will work closely with Engineering, Product, Security, and DevOps teams to ensure operational excellence, minimize downtime, and deliver a seamless experience to our users. Job Duties - Design and maintain highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable cloud infrastructure in Azure (AWS experience a plus). - Lead incident response efforts, conduct post-mortems, and implement preventive measures to improve system reliability. - Define and implement SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs to measure and improve service performance. - Partner with Engineering teams to embed reliability best practices into application design and deployment. - Drive automation of operational tasks through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and configuration management tools. - Optimize monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to proactively detect and resolve issues. - Lead efforts to improve cost efficiency, system performance, and operational processes. - Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance, vulnerability management, and secure system design. - Provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level SREs. - Participate in on-call rotations to support critical systems and services. - Leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate incident triage, root-cause analysis, runbook and post-mortem drafting, and Infrastructure as Code and automation development, while validating all AI-generated output before production use. Skills And Qualifications - 8+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or related infrastructure roles, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity. - Proven expertise in designing and supporting large-scale SaaS platforms in Microsoft Azure (AWS or GCP a plus). - Advanced proficiency with Terraform and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash). - Strong understanding of CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or equivalent. - Solid background in Linux and Windows system administration. - Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). - Proficiency in observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar. - Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and present solutions to technical and non-technical audiences. - Hands-on experience applying AI tools (e.g., Claude or similar) to troubleshooting, scripting, automation, and observability workflows, with sound judgment on reviewing AI output and protecting sensitive data. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field; equivalent experience considered. This position is also eligible for variable pay as part of the total compensation package.
