What you can expect
For our development team in Lingen (Ems) or Osnabrück we are looking for a
Principal Software Engineer – Cloud Data Platform (all genders welcome)
Our Cloud Evaluation Platform brings the evaluation of pipeline inspection data into the cloud. Data analysts around the world use it to process, validate and report inspection data – with machine learning models doing a growing share of the work. More than 50 people in cross-functional teams in Germany, Vietnam, Switzerland and Colombia build it, on TypeScript and Python, running on Azure.
As the platform grows, we want one technical lead across all teams. You report directly to the Head of the Cloud Evaluation Platform, are their key technical partner in the management team, and lead technically – without disciplinary responsibility, through expertise, collaboration and example. And you stay hands-on: you write code, not just advise on it.
RESPONSIBILITY:
- Shape the technical direction and architecture of the platform together with our technical leads, data architects and cloud platform team – you are accountable for architecture decisions and document them
- Write, review and improve code across the whole stack, and help teams make a fast-evolving codebase easier to work with
- Take ownership of the shared libraries, API contracts and internal tooling that all teams build on
- Evolve our engineering standards – coding, testing, secure development – and make them stick through tooling and culture
- Advise management on roadmap, estimates and technical risk, and be the technical point of contact for critical incidents, so that lessons learned flow back into code and process
- Mentor engineers, run design reviews and workshops, and share knowledge across teams and locations
What you will bring
To become part of the ROSEN family, you combine scientific curiosity, technical excellence, and a passion for translating research into impactful solutions. Moreover, you should bring with you
- Degree in computer science or a comparable qualification
- Proven experience as a senior or lead software engineer in large, multi-team codebases
- In-depth experience with TypeScript and Python; ideally with NestJS, React/Next.js and GraphQL
- Strong skills in designing distributed systems and APIs, and in test strategies across many services
- Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes
- Azure, observability (e.g. OpenTelemetry), CI/CD, data engineering or large-scale data architectures are nice to have
- Experience leading engineers without line authority, and explaining technical trade-offs clearly to engineers and management alike
- Very good English, written and spoken; German is a plus
What we offer
- Development opportunities and career opportunities in a global, innovative and long-term oriented group of companies with family character
- Flexible working hours & working time accounts as well as partial home office for a good work-life balance (38 hours/week)
- An open, informal corporate culture, where we celebrate success with social events
- Compatibility of work and family through our company-owned bilingual day care center ROKIDS as well as our bilingual elementary school ROBIGS (optional: day care during the holiday)
- Employer funded pension and capital accumulation benefits
- Company Restaurant (only in Lingen) and fresh fruit is available daily
- Various in-house sports activities (EGYM Wellpass and other offers)
- Attractive bike leasing offers for private use
- Corporate Benefits - employee offers in changing online shops at top conditions
