Do you want to shape the digital future of the UK’s leading investment platform? We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead our Unified Client Experience (UCX) engineering squad. In this role, you will champion the technical vision, architecture, and delivery of a seamless, modern digital experience that unifies onboarding, investing, and wealth management across web and mobile platforms. The Mission As a Principal Engineer in the UCX space, you will bridge the gap between complex backend systems and beautiful, intuitive user interfaces. You will drive frontend modernization, establish engineering best practices, and mentor a talented team of engineers to ship high-performance, secure software in a regulated environment. Technical Toolkit & Core Skills To be successful in this role, you must have deep, hands-on expertise across the following stack: - Core UI & Frontend: Advanced React, React Native, and TypeScript (alongside HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript ecosystem). - Cloud & Infrastructure: Cloud-native architecture experience using AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes. - DevOps & CI/CD: Building and maintaining robust automation pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Harness). - Testing & Quality: Strict adherence to TDD/BDD using tools like Jest, Cypress, or Appium. - Observability: Implementing system telemetry and dashboards using Prometheus and Grafana to monitor live service health. - Data Tier: Exposure to enterprise data environments (e.g., Oracle, Sybase, or DocumentDB). Experience & Qualifications We are looking for an engineering leader who brings: - 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of shipping complex, customer-facing digital products. - Fintech or Regulated Environment Background: Strong understanding of building highly secure, compliant, and accessible applications (Banking, Wealth Management, or large-scale SaaS). - Technical Leadership: Proven ability to architect frontends from scratch, conduct rigorous code reviews, and scale engineering standards across multiple squads. - Agile Mindset: Deep familiarity with Scrum/Kanban frameworks, continuous delivery, and rapid feedback loops.
