Role Overview: Are you a Data Engineer who enjoys taking ownership of data solutions from initial design through to production delivery? We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing team, working with leading organisations to design, build and optimise modern, cloud-based data platforms. You’ll take ownership of data engineering solutions end to end, from understanding business requirements and designing data models to developing pipelines, implementing transformations and deploying reliable, production-ready solutions. You’ll combine strong hands-on engineering skills with the ability to engage with clients, influence technical decisions and ensure solutions are scalable, secure and maintainable. This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering data transformation projects while helping clients get more value from their data. Responsibilities: - Take end-to-end ownership of data engineering solutions, from requirements gathering and technical design through to development, deployment and ongoing optimisation. - Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and transformation workflows using SQL, dbt and cloud data platforms. - Develop high-quality, tested and reusable data models that support reporting, analytics, AI and business decision-making. - Apply software engineering best practices, including version control, automated testing, CI/CD and deployment management. - Ensure data solutions are reliable, performant, secure and maintainable, implementing appropriate monitoring, testing and observability. - Work directly with clients and stakeholders to understand business challenges, translate requirements into technical solutions and communicate design decisions. - Contribute to technical architecture, engineering standards and best practices, helping clients improve their data capabilities. - Support and mentor other engineers, sharing knowledge and contributing to a collaborative consulting environment. About the candidate: - Strong SQL skills, with experience building complex transformations and developing high-quality data models. - Hands-on experience with dbt, including building, testing, documenting and maintaining transformation workflows. - Experience designing and delivering data solutions on at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud. - Strong understanding of modern data engineering principles, including ETL/ELT, data modelling, warehouse architecture and scalable data pipeline design. - Experience taking technical solutions from initial requirements and design through to production deployment and ongoing support. - Familiarity with software engineering practices, including Git, code reviews, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines. - Understanding of data quality, governance, access controls and security best practices. - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders. - A proactive, delivery-focused approach, with the confidence to take ownership of technical decisions and drive solutions forward.
