Mission Planning Systems Engineer Location: Bristol Salary: £46,000 – £57,000 depending on experience Working Pattern: Hybrid, typically 3–4 days per week onsite An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineer to join a leading defence organisation, working on the development and delivery of advanced mission planning systems used across a range of complex weapons programmes. You will join an established, internationally focused engineering team, contributing to projects spanning tactical strike capabilities through to next-generation long-range weapon systems. The position offers excellent exposure to the full engineering lifecycle, as well as opportunities to collaborate with international teams, external industry partners and UK defence stakeholders. The Role Working across a variety of mission planning projects, you will play an important role in developing, integrating and assuring complex engineering solutions. Your responsibilities will include: - Supporting the definition, development and management of system requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle. - Contributing to system design activities, ensuring requirements are effectively translated into technical solutions. - Supporting system verification, validation and certification activities. - Working with international engineering teams and subject matter experts to develop an understanding of system architecture and functionality. - Producing technical documentation for both internal engineering teams and external customers. - Supporting technical investigations, resolving engineering challenges and contributing to design decisions. - Collaborating with external industry partners and defence stakeholders on project delivery. What We're Looking For - A degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification. - Recent experience working within a Systems Engineering environment. - A good understanding of Systems Engineering principles and processes. - Experience using requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS. - Familiarity with configuration management processes. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve technical challenges. - Confident communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and locations. Experience or an understanding of mission planning systems would be advantageous, although this is not essential. Salary & Benefits Alongside a salary of £46,000 – £57,000, the package includes: - Company bonus of up to £2,500. - Pension contributions of up to 14% combined. - Paid overtime opportunities.
