Description
Chief Technology Officer (CTO) | Green Orbit Ltd
UK-Based | Equity Opportunity | Executive Technology Leadership
We're looking for a CTO who wants to help build a business, not simply manage its technology.
Green Orbit is an ambitious UK technology company developing SmartFitIQ, an AI-enabled platform addressing significant challenges in workwear and personal protective equipment (PPE) fitting, operational efficiency and sustainability.
Our ambition is to build a scalable, internationally relevant technology business with the potential to deliver significant commercial and environmental impact.
We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded Chief Technology Officer to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in the company's next stage of development.
The Opportunity
This is a senior executive appointment offering genuine influence over the technology and strategic direction of a growing business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading our technology strategy, architecture and product development.
- Managing and developing our existing technical team.
- Translating innovation into robust, scalable commercial solutions.
- Working with academic and strategic partners to accelerate development.
- Supporting customer engagement, technical presentations and commercial opportunities.
- Contributing to investment readiness, business strategy and long-term growth.
- Taking ownership of technical delivery, performance and innovation.
Why Green Orbit?
We have established strong foundations for our next phase of growth, including:
- An awarded Innovate UK-backed Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University of South Wales.
- Established academic research relationships supporting our development ambitions.
- Growing engagement with prospective customers and commercial partners.
- Recognition as finalists in two Welsh business awards for technology and innovation.
- An existing technical team and an active product development programme.
- A clear commercial vision addressing significant challenges in established markets.
We believe Green Orbit has the potential to become a significant technology business, and we are looking for someone who shares that ambition.
Equity, Commitment and Remuneration
This is not a fractional CTO appointment, a side hustle or a vanity title.
We are seeking a technology leader who wants to take genuine ownership, accept accountability and make a substantial, long-term commitment to building a commercially successful business.
The CTO will be expected to make Green Orbit a genuine professional priority, providing consistent leadership, availability and measurable delivery.
We recognise that candidates may have existing professional and financial commitments. However, this opportunity is not intended for someone seeking an occasional advisory position, an additional title or a passive equity holding.
The appointment is initially proposed on an equity-only basis until sufficient business funding is secured to support an agreed salaried arrangement, subject to appropriate legal and contractual structuring.
Equity participation will be negotiated to reflect experience, responsibilities, commitment and agreed performance milestones.
We are seeking someone who understands the realities of an early-stage technology business and is motivated by the opportunity to create substantial long-term enterprise value.
Who We're Looking For
We are interested in speaking with technology leaders who offer:
- Proven software engineering and technical leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of modern technology architectures and scalable platforms.
- Experience in AI-enabled solutions, SaaS or data-driven technologies.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to align technology investment with business objectives.
- Confidence engaging with customers, strategic partners and prospective investors.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial approach and the ability to operate effectively within an early-stage business.
Above all, we value commitment, integrity, accountability, sound judgement and the determination to turn ambition into measurable results.
Location and Availability
Applicants must currently reside in the United Kingdom.
While Green Orbit supports flexible and remote working, the CTO must be available to attend in-person meetings with customers, university research partners, investors and the leadership team.
The ability and willingness to travel within the UK when required is essential.
