Senior Finance Manager – State & Local Taxes

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Finance Manager – State & Local Taxes based in Canada. This is a senior tax leadership opportunity focused on managing U.S. state and local tax (SALT) compliance, planning, and risk across a complex, multi-jurisdictional business. You will serve as a strategic advisor to Finance, Legal, and business leaders, helping optimize the organization’s tax position while maintaining strong compliance. The role combines technical tax expertise with business partnership, covering income and franchise taxes, sales and use taxes, gross receipts, property taxes, and related matters. You will lead tax planning initiatives, nexus and apportionment analyses, audits, legislative monitoring, and tax process improvements. The position offers significant autonomy in a remote environment while providing visibility with senior finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. You will also have the opportunity to introduce automation and technology solutions that improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of tax operations. Success in this role requires strong U.S. SALT expertise, sound judgment, analytical rigor, and the ability to translate complex tax matters into practical business recommendations.
