Description
Barden is delighted to partner with a fast-growing software company in Cork as they look to hire a Senior Software Engineer.
They have a strong engineering team in Cork and are continuing to build it out as the business scales. AI capabilities are being embedded across their products, making this an exciting stage to join.
“What we build over the next couple of years becomes the foundation for every product we have. We want an engineer who has run services in production and fixes problems at the source rather than working around them.” – Director of Software Engineering
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Build and scale the backend services that products run on.
- Design and develop reliable, well-structured APIs and integrations.
- Design, build and run event-driven services in production.
- Help embed AI capabilities across the product suite.
- Take ownership of what you ship, from initial design through to production.
ABOUT THE PERSON
- 7+ years of backend software engineering experience, ideally working with complex production systems.
- Hands-on experience designing, shipping and running event-driven services in production.
- Comfortable working with SQL and building reliable, scalable backend systems.
- Able to work independently, take ownership of technical decisions and see projects through to production.
- Strong object-oriented programming skills. Python or C#/.NET experience is ideal, but strong engineers from other object-oriented language backgrounds will also be considered.
- Heavy day-to-day user of AI engineering tools, such as Claude Code or Cursor, with practical examples of how you use AI in your development workflow.
OTHER DETAILS
- Hybrid working: 3 days per week in the Cork office.
- Permanent role: salary + benefits such as healthcare/pension
